ABOUT THE WYFA The Waukegan Chiefs Youth Football and Cheerleading Association is a Charitable Organization, which has been serving the Waukegan area for over 30 years. Our goal is to provide our youth with a safe, fun, appropriately competitive, and developmental Football and Cheerleading program for boys and girls from 7 to 14 years of age. The WYFA's philosophy is to promote the benefits of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, fair play, respect and responsibility. We believe children learn valuable lessons by participating in the team sports of Football and Cheerleading. Both the Football and Cheerleading programs are designed to provide appropriately competitive and instructional play with participants of similar age and size in a structured environment. All participants are a part of the team. Our rules and guidelines adhere to the Bylaws established by Junior Football League Northern Illinois (JFLNI) About Our Coaches All of the WYFA coaches for Football and Cheerleading are volunteers. Some have children in the program, while others have no children participating in the program. Our Football Head Coaches, as of 2004, are all ASEP (American Sports Education Certified). All new participating coaches will be required to obtain this invaluable certification. Each coach brings to the program their own level of coaching, training, knowledge and philosophy of the sport. As a result styles, methods and game plans will vary from year to year and at each level. Please be supportive of our coaching staffs. Our coaches spend countless hours of teaching and coaching your children, so we ask that you not only support your child, but you support and cooperate with the coaching staff. In the end without all of our volunteers our program could not be successful. |
